   Stopped up at Oak Hill this morning with hopes of finding the Northern Shrike. No sign of the shrike and a quick stop at the Coliseum Grasslands yielded only 6 starlings.
  DEC. 29, 2007 - Oak Hill Area. Hike Oak Hill Rd. north to Scobie Rd. then south to the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center, pick up Plateau Trail then off-trail to check pine groves for owls and back to Oak Hill entrance.
  TIME: 7:30am-10:30am TEMP.: 36-35 COND.: Gray & overcast, southwest winds, occasionally breezy.
  VEH.MI.: 24.2 FT.MI.: 1.50 OBS.: Douglas W. Vogus.
  I. MAMMALS: 4 SPECIES.
  1. Eastern Gray Squirrel - 3 (1 black phase)
  2. Eastern Fox Squirrel - 1
  3. Red Squirrel - 2
  4. White-tailed Deer - 5 (does)
  II. BIRDS: 24 SPECIES.
  (?= bird was seen but not sexed; *= bird was heard calling but not seen)

  2. Mallard - 15 (9m,6f)
  3. Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
  4. Red-tailed Hawk - 2
  5. Red-bellied Woodpecker - 5 (3m,2f)
  6. Downy Woodpecker - 5 (3f,1?,1*)
  7. Hairy Woodpecker - 3 (*)
  8. Northern Flicker - 2 (1f,1?)
  9. Pileated Woodpecker - 1 (f)
  10. Blue Jay - 11
  11. American Crow - 63
  12. Black-capped Chickadee - 14
  13. White-breasted Nuthatch - 4 (2?,2*)
  14. Golden-crowned Kinglet - 1 (*)
  15. Eastern Bluebird - 1 (m)
