just got in from a week atlasing priority
blocks from Ada to Cambridge to Deer Creek.
Still digesting the data so don't have much to
pass along now but thought to make a quick
mention of a Northern Shrike seen today in
Madison County roughly 3 miles or so sw.
of Batelle-Darby Creek MP.
Refer to Delorme 67B6
from Columbus, I suggest following US 62 sw.
from Grove to 665 then west to Georgesville-Wrightsville Rd,
turning sw. there to Lilly Chapel-Opossum Rd. Head nw.
and shortly turn onto (w) Pringle-Benjamin Rd. After a mile
or so, the road jogs sharply left (south) ... at the jog is a
pulloff ... looking nw. a tan brick building (Fairfield Twp. School)
is visible in the distance ... the shrike was was just across the
open field in that direction.
Savannah Sparrow and Red-breasted Nuthatch were also along
this road.
nothing so striking was had within the other blocks although
Chipping Sparrows and Ruby-crowned Kinglets were unexpected.
cheers
