When I stopped home for lunch earlier today there was a mixed flock of juncos and tree sparrows scratching and pecking in the driveway. One bird stood out. It flitted up and struggled in the ever-present wind and landed momentarily on my windshield before winging it away to a sheltered spot in the yard. It was a Snow Bunting! I put some seed out (the feeder was low) and scattered some on the ground. When the birds settled back down, there were the juncos, tree sparrows, the lone bunting and at least two white-crowned sparrows. Approximate numbers for about 20 minutes or so of observation:

Dark-eyed Junco (50)
American Tree Sparrow (20)
SNOW BUNTING (1)
White-crowned Sparrow (2)
Horned Lark (1)
Mourning Dove (20)
Downy Woodpecker (1)
Red-bellied Woodpecker (1)
White-breasted Nuthatch (1)
European Starling (5)
House Sparrow (10)
