I was at East 72nd this afternoon for about three hours.  There were a lot
of gulls with good numbers of the uncommon ones.  I did see Ben's gull and
did get some decent photos of it.  It looks like a Nelson's gull to me, a
hybrid between herring and glaucous.  It has a very thick bill, pale mantle,
and very clean head as in glaucous, and it has the wingtip pattern of
herring.

Other than the four common gulls (Bonaparte's-1, ring-billed, herring, and
great black-backed (200+) there were the following:

Glaucous gull- 6 - (2 1st year, 1 2nd year, and 3 adults)
Iceland gull- 4 - (1 1st year, 1 2nd year, 1 3rd year, and 1 adult)
Thayer's gull- 1 adult
Lesser black-backed gull- 9 -(2 1st year, 1 2nd year, 2 3rd year, and 4
adults)
Nelson's gull- 1 adult

I also had a peregrine falcon fly by and about 30 common redpolls.
