A morning trip to this State Park north of Columbus was an abject lesson in the power of hunting to shape bird behavior. While landbirds and hawks were at normal numbers, waterfowl were scant on the heavily-hunted reservoir. I did have a number of flocks of flyover Canada Geese, but a careful search of much of the lower lake only found a few Mallards and Black Ducks in hidden, non-hunted areas, along with 2 Bufflehead out in the middle of the lake. This is probably the most hunted lake in central Ohio, so it won't be much for waterfowl for another month, until the birds 'learn' that the season has stopped.

On the landbird side, nothing was terribly unusual, although Tree Sparrows were at many spots, and Yellow-rumped warblers were holed up at their traditional sites around New Galena and the Park campground (both spots with a heavy density of poison ivy in berry).
