This morning Linda and I surveyed several sections of the Hoover Nature
Preserve for the Ohio Winter Bird Survey. Overall activity was moderate but we
managed to locate 36 species . Species observed included:

Mallard 237
Northern Pintail 31
Lesser Scaup 66
Common Goldeneye 5
Hooded Merganser 57
Red-breasted Merganser 6
Cooper’s Hawk 2

American Kestrel 5
Ring-billed Gull 200+
Mourning Dove 22
Red-bellied Woodpecker 13
Downy Woodpecker 20
Northern Flicker 3
Blue Jay 33
American Crow 70
Horned Lark 23
Carolina Chickadee 41
Tufted Titmouse 24
White-breasted Nuthatch 15
Carolina Wren 6
American Robin 18
Northern Mockingbird 5
European Starling 300+
American Tree Sparrow 14
Song Sparrow 21
White-throated Sparrow 13
