Greetings birders -

Today a bunch of birders hit East 55th and East 72nd for gulls and waterfowl.
Tally was 8 species of gulls. Details below. A single female Canvasback, single female Redhead, a single female Lesser Scaup, and at least 25 Gadwall were hanging out in the East 55th boat marina.
An amazing number of Lesser Black-backed Gulls today - this report mentions 22 as our liberal high count. It's fair to say we had "around 20" total.

GULLS:

Bonaparte's Gull - 4Ring-billed Gull - uncountableHerring Gull - uncountable Lesser Black-backed Gull: 22
A perfect tally was impossible, but:East 55th: 4 adults and 2 1st year birds on the docks; 5 adults and 2 1st years at breakwall pointEast 72nd: one 3rd year, two 2nd years, at least 3 1st years, and another 4 or 5 adults. Great Black-backed Gull - 500+Iceland Gull (Kumlien's subspecies): at least 3 adults plus one 1st year birdGlaucous Gull: at least 3 beautiful adults and around noon, a fawn-colored first year birdThayer's Gull: at least 1, possibly a 2nd adult at East 72nd

best of birding -
Jen
