Hey all -
I made quick pass along the lake this afternoon. East
72nd is once again open. A few gulls were present -
nothing too exciting, though. A first-year LBBG and
one the GBBGxHEGU hybrids was present. This bird
looked different from other birds I have seen here
throughout the winter. The head was clean white - not
one streak to be seen. Perhaps just a result of
molt...either way, I wonder just how many of these
birds are along the lakefront.
Phil's patch of water was gone at Westerly, but there
was a sliver of open water along the far breakwall.
It was jam-packed with Redheads, Canvasbacks, scaup,
Buffleheads, coots, black ducks, and Mallards. Too
bad there is no access to the Cuyahoga's mouth - it
was swarming with larids.
Good birding -
