Greetings birders -

This is of special interest, since this Black-legged Kittiwake, at Otsego Park (Toledo area) was an ADULT. Below is Tom Kemp's original post to rarebird.org:

"Matthew and I found an adult Black-legged kittiwake at Otsego Park this afternoon. The bird was seen from the steps of the shelter house and was present from about 2:45 to 4:30. Chuck, Terri, Mark Miller, Mark's mom, and Dennis Vollmar also got to see it. I don't recall any kittiwake records from the Maumee River and a mid-winter sighting of this species is most unusual; most of our records are from fall/early winter. Also present at Otsego today were Glaucous gull, 1st year Thayer's gull, and 11 Lesser Black-backed gulls (14 total on the river). There is another overlook just up-river (a vacant lot) where you could also scan for gulls.Tom Kemp
