Fellow birders,
Just got back from a beautiful walk in the snow covered woods. It was
still snowing quite hard, and saw virtually no birds. They all stayed back
at the feeders. Ended up at the recently improved beaver dam than now
keeps about 5 to 10 more acres flooded for most of the year. These
thoughtful animals have created a near perfect habitat for Prothonotary
warblers, not unlike area M above Hoover Dam. It is my intention to make it
even more perfect by putting up a dozen or so nest boxes. I have already
found the correct dimensions on line, and am about to begin a search for
more helpful info as soon as I hang up here. It occured to me that there
are among you those that could point me in the right direction, and perhaps
give me some general advice based on your own experience. One of you might
even be named Charlie.

Given the excellent habitat we have here, I fully expect this project
to work, and we should have nesting Prothonotaries within a year or so.
Will keep you "posted".
