I had a chance to stop at Darby Bend Lakes in Hilliard (off Amity Road) last
night after work. There are 4 bodies of water out there, and all are
partially frozen. In the first pond going into the park I spotted what must
have been 200+ Canada Geese. But in the midst of them was a Snow Goose. Just
one, but a beautiful specimen.

Then in the second area there were lots of waterfowl. My counts are rough,
but here is what I saw:

Canada Geese - 100+ (in the second pond)
American Coots - 20
Ruddy Duck - 5
Canvasback - 2 males and 2 females
Redheads - 15-20 (and more kept flying in and out)
Pied-bill Grebe - 2
Ring-necked ducks - 4
Mallards - 50+
Tundra Swan - 6 (very exciting to see)

There was also 2 ducks that were all white below and on the neck, with
black feathers and a black strip on the head. They were a good distance away
and since I don't have a scope I couldn't identify them. Hope to see them up
closer next time. If someone with more identifying skills happens to see
them, let me know. I thought at first it was a Common Loon, but just not
able to be sure.

The other two areas were devoid of any waterfowl.
