Actually.... I'll bet they are already in Hinckley... I've been seeing them
all winter, especially between I-271 and I-77... They tend to hang out on
the large electrical towers. Saw a few today as a matter of fact.

Subject: Turkey Vulture in Sandusky

A friend just phoned to tell me that she saw a Turkey Vulture just south of
Sandusky. She said the bird landed and began eating something on the
ground,
giving her a good look at it.

There is a huge quarry directly across the street from the Sandusky Mall
(google Sandusky Mall, 44870, and switch to "arial view" to see it for
yourself). The bird was seen along Columbus Ave. as it runs along the west
side of
the quarry. Perhaps it is the updrafts from the quarry that attracted him
to
the area.

As a former Hinckley resident, I certainly hope he stays clear of Hinckley
for another three and a half weeks! No one wants him, or any of his
friends
to show up before Buzzard's Day. Speaking of Buzzard's Day (March 15), if
you
have never attended a Buzzard's Sunday (the first Sunday after Buzzard's
Day) you might want to consider it. It has grown from just a pancake and
sausage breakfast event to a nice little educational festival. Birding
Hinckley
Reservation can be quite productive even at that time of the year. I
really
regret that I was not a birder when I lived just up the road from it.
