Today's Wilmington News-Journal has a front page picture of a tree near Cowan Lake which split in two during the recent storm along with a picture of a possibly injured Turkey Vulture. Apparently the tree was a favorite winter roosting spot for about 30 or 40
Turkey Vultures and when part of the tree blew down one was killed and another possibly injured. The story refers to the birds as Buzzards and can be seen on the News-Journal website.
Gloomy Day Cheers, Larry Gara
