I stopped by the Hoover Dam on the way to Blendon Woods. There were
usual Hooded Mergansers, Canada Geese, Ring-billed Gulls, and
Mallards. A few Northern Shovelers were in the stream beyond the
spillway. There was a group of Common Goldeneye on the reservoir, and
I was fortunate enough to see male/female pair fly from there onto
the spillway, so I was treated to a very good look at them. I also
met fellow birder Dianna there on the dam. And I saw what might have
been a Red-shouldered Hawk, but I am still learning raptors.

Then I headed for Blendon Woods, and I ran into Dianna again along
with a few other birders. Along with usual Canada Geese, Mallards,
and Black Ducks, there were a few treats on the pond: Two Ring-necked
Ducks, a pair of American Widgeons, a Redhead, and a Mute Swan. We
also spotted an immature Cooper's Hawk.
