Just got a call from Brad Sparks, who reports the following from Lake
White (old DeLorme C/D-1/2) near Waverley in Pike Co:
        7 cackling geese
        4 Ross's geese
        2 snow geese
other waterfowl, incl ~3000 Canada geese, ~2000 mallards, ~1000 black
ducks, smaller numbers of other species.
The lake is partially frozen, and many of the geese were on the ice
shelf. Some of the birds, including the Ross's, have departed, flying
toward the Scioto River, but it's likely they'll be back and forth
during the day, and roost at night at Lk. White. Brad was there near
dawn today, and is going to scout some other open reservoirs in this
part of the state for more waterfowl bailing out of icier climes.
Lake White is hedged in with housing, but Brad says a good overlook is
available at a pulloff on the south side if you take 552 off 104 and go
west. Other lakes similarly situated might be good now, too.
