The Green-winged Teal that I recently reported in the waterway near our yard were just "strafed" several times by a female Northern Harrier and are no longer in the waterway! The pair of Mallards remain but they reacted nervously to the harrier also. On a much smaller scale, the incident resembled the scrambling behavior of birds when a Bald Eagle flies over an area. It surprised me as I wasn't aware that Northern Harriers displayed this type of behavior. Harriers do hunt our fields frequently. Could this be a territorial thing?
