MAR. 01, 2008 - Busy feeders around the yard today here in the Merriman Valley between Sand Run Metro Park and the CVNP Towpath Trail.
TIME: 7:30am - 6:30pm TEMP.: 28-39-30 COND.: Mostly cloudy turning to a mix of clouds and sun. OBS.: Douglas W. Vogus.

II. BIRDS: 25 SPECIES.
1. Canada Goose - 5 (flyover)
2. Red-tailed Hawk - 1 (adult)
3. Mourning Dove - 1
4. Red-bellied Woodpecker - 1 (m)
5. Downy Woodpecker - 3 (1m,2f)
6. Hairy Woodpecker - 1 (m)
7. Blue Jay - 4
8. American Crow - 5
9. Black-capped Chickadee - 2
10. Tufted Titmouse - 1
11. White-breasted Nuthatch - 1 (m)
12. Carolina Wren - 1
13. American Robin - 2
14. European Starling - 6
15. American Tree Sparrow - 4
16. Song Sparrow - 1
17. White-throated Sparrow - 8
18. Dark-eyed Junco - 1 (m)
19. Northern Cardinal - 33 (22m,11f)
20. Red-winged Blackbird - 5 (m)
21. Common Grackle - 12 (m)
22. Brown-headed Cowbird - 87 (about an equal mix of males & females with one male having white primaries & secondaries on only the left wing)
23. House Finch - 3 (2m,1f)
24. American Goldfinch - 22
25. House Sparrow - 16
