yesterday around 4pm i had a shrike on my property in homerville.  i'm not very experienced with shrikes, but i would have to guess this one was a northern.  the mask looked narrow, and the song was short semi-melodic phrases.  i looked for the white area above the cere, but could not see it because it kept quite a good distance between the two of us.  i'll have another look around for it tomorrow, and post any new info.  also, we had our first phoebe of the year.
