Did some car birding today at Medusa Marsh and East Harbor State Park area.
Ice is finally melting. Scope was necessary for some IDs, but many birds
were easily viewable with binoculars.
(see _http://www.ohiobirds.org/birdingsites/showsite.php?Site_ID=17_
(http://www.ohiobirds.org/birdingsites/showsite.php?Site_ID=17) for descriptions of
some of these areas)

Around noon at Medusa Marsh:
Coot
Gadwall
Shoveler
Mallard
Wigeon
Bufflehead
L. Scaup
Redhead
Common Merganser
Goldeneye
I could not tell if there was an adult on the large Bald Eagle nest or not,
but there were two immature eagles in the woodlot near the nest.

Off South end of old bay bridge were Canvasback and L. Scaup

Checking the water between the town of Bayview and the Rt 2 Edison Bridge
added two pair of Red-breasted Mergansers to my list.

Around 4:00 PM I checked the West Harbor channel just north of East Harbor
State Park from the parking lot of the East Harbor Marina:
Ruddy Duck
Goldeneye
Common Merganser
Canvasback
Gadwall
Mallard
several Great Blue Herons
There is a new Bald Eagle nest in the woods on the opposite side of the
channel and an adult could be seen on the nest though the scope.

At East Harbor SP, the lake and Middle Harbor were still frozen. Driving
out to the beach, East Harbor is on your right and had a few Common Mergs,
Ruddy Ducks, and Great Blue Herons.

Around 4:45, the northern end of the old bay bridge had:
Hooded Merganser
L. Scaup
Redhead
Canvasback
Bufflehead
