I had to go to the Cincinnati area today so I stopped at Ceaser Creek on
the way home. There wasn't much on the water except 2 ruddy ducks and 4
Canada geese.
It was a good day for woodpeckers though. On one of the trails behind the
nature center I saw a yellow-bellied sapsucker, a red-bellied woodpecker,
a hairy woodpecker, and a pileated woodpecker all within 20 feet of one
and other. I guess they were having a convention or something.
Also seen: turkey vultures, white-breasted nuthatches, mourning doves, and
American robins.
At the rest area near Jeffersonville on the southbound side of the freeway
were numerous grackles and house sparrows.
