SPECIES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS ARE REVIEW-LIST SPECIES. Details of
these sightings are desired by The Ohio Bird Records Committee. Careful
observation, not ornithological expertise, is the only qualification
for submitting your data. For details and pointers see:
http://www.ohiobirds.org/records/documentation.php

ROSS'S GOOSE: The Dunakins found two at the Paulding Sewage Lagoons,
Paulding County, on the 16th.

Eurasian Wigeon: John Pogacnik flushed one from a field along Stange
Road, Ottawa County, on the 16th.

Red-throated Loon: Jack Stenger and Sean Williams spotted one at the
dam at Hoover Reservoir, Franklin County on the 20th.

Red-necked Grebe: On the same trip to Hoover Reservoir, the above pair
found single birds near the Sunbury Road causeway and the Smothers Road
causeway.

Golden Eagle: One was spotted at The Wilds, Muskingum County, on the
16th by Andy Sewell and Jay Lehman.

Snowy Owl: On the 18th, one was videoed (see www.rarebird.org) on a
rooftop on Fairview Drive, West Toledo. It could not be relocated the
next day.

Northern Shrike: Present in good numbers this week with reports from
The Voice of American Park, Butler County; Killdeer Plains Wildlife
Area across from the Sportsmen's Center; Sandy Ridge Reservation,
Lorain County; East Harbor State Park, Ottawa County; the causeway at
Crane Creek State Park, Ottawa County; and in the Maumee Bay State Park
area, Lucas County, in " an open field on the other side of the house
just west of the Mallard Club Wildlife Area parking area".

Brewer's Blackbird: Ryan Steiner's backyard in Smithville, Wayne
County, was visited by a huge blackbird flock on the 16th, allowing him
to find a Brewer's among them. Jack Stenger and Sean Williams searched
the blackbird roost near Pond 18 in the Delaware Wildlife Area,
Delaware County, and found a female Brewer's on the 20th.

Common Redpoll: Reported this week from publicly accessible feeders at
Big Creek Park visitor center, Geauga County. They were also reported
from private feeders in Lucas, Cuyahoga, and Holmes counties. Greg
Links has noted that redpolls seem to be fewer in number but perhaps
more widely dispersed now, suggesting they've begun their northward
migration. He asks that people report the date of their last sightings.

HOARY REDPOLL: The bird visiting Levi Yoder's home near Trail, Holmes
County (Delorme p.51 D5) was reported this week but is no longer
reliable on a daily basis. The address is 2230 TR 415. Visitors are
welcome. Please sign the guestbook. Please observe the feeders from the
barn and do not approach them closely. A scope is desirable. The
Bobolink RBA (330-763-5119) has routine updates and should be checked
before visiting.

Evening Grosbeak: Jay Lehman saw four female grosbeaks at Mohican State
Park at the second house past the fire tower on the 15th. Jay says the
homeowner reported they stayed last year into April.
