Greetings birders -

Sat March 22nd
A fantastic morning/afternoon in the field at Funk Bottoms and Killbuck Wildlife Areas and Overton Ponds, west of Wooster. Astounding amount of flooded habitat. We finished the day with 67 species, including 20 spp of waterfowl. The huge highlight was 4 (four) AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS in flight on Millbrook Road, .5 miles east of its intersection with Elyria Road (just south of Rt 3; and as the pelican flies, a wingbeat north of Wright Marsh). The birds were flying steadily (soaring) north but after circling several times, headed back southwest. Other highlights included: numerous American Pipits, Lapland Longspurs, Sandhill Crane, Pectoral Sandpiper, and great numbers of waterfowl. Good to see large numbers of Rusty Blackbird, a species that is surprisingly becoming more and more uncommon (overall) as precious boreal forest (wetland/bog habitat) is lessening and the species could be threatened.

This is an INCOMPLETE trip list describing a few of the major highlights at each location.
