Dan Sanders and I started our bird quest at Hoover where we couldn't find the grebes again (eared, red-necked). So we went on up to Pleasant Hill in order to search for the Long-tailed Ducks reported. We didn't find them but we found a beautiful drake EURASIAN WIGEON. This bird was in Richland Co.; off of Rt. 95 we took Covert Road towards the public boat launch. before you get there, there is a pull off that has access to a wooded muddy path to a lookout. It was worth the walk, in addition to the many common loons calling around us there were about 100 American Wigeon, and sure enough I was able to pick out the EUWI.  We didn't find the Red-necked Grebes others saw today. But there were a bunch of other ducks including both Scaup. It was fun. Here is a link to some pictures I digiscoped of the Eurasian Widgeon, plus some other pics I've taken they are the first photos in the album, and no, you shouldn't have to join facebook to see them, its a public link (some web-browsers show it wrong I guess, try a different browser).
