The loons I saw were probably common loons.  They were out towards the 
middle of the lake so I didn't get the best look at them.  Their heads 
were completely black; lacking the white face typical of a red-breasted 
loon but they did have some white on their throats.  Their breasts were 
completely white.  Remebering the bill size of these two birds, I think it 
is more than likely that I saw common loons.
