When I was at CSU in the mid 1990s, I would often find dead woodcocks on the CSU campus during spring migration.  It is a shame they get that far north, but then collide with buildings/windows as they attempt to head across the lake.  Also, the Peregrines in downtown Cleveland occasionally take a woodcock too.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Woodcock in downtown Cleveland



This morning(3-4) as my husband was walking down Euclid Ave. between 9th
and 12th, he spotted a dead woodcock.  In their job to keep the streets
clean, the cleaning crews disposed of it.
