SPECIES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS ARE REVIEW-LIST SPECIES. Details of
these sightings are desired by The Ohio Bird Records Committee. Careful
observation, not ornithological expertise, is the only qualification
for submitting your data. For details and pointers see:
http://www.ohiobirds.org/records/documentation.php

Long-tailed Duck: Tappan Lake, Harrison County, hosted a raft of eight
on the 6th.

Northern Bobwhite: Heard at Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area, Sandusky
County, on the 5th.

Red-necked Grebe: An alternate plumaged bird was at Eastwood Lake near
Dayton on the 5th. On the 7th, a winter-plumaged bird was offshore from
John Pogacnik's North Perry home, Lake County.

Eared Grebe: One was found at Beaver Creek Reservoir, Seneca County, on
the 5th.

Yellow-crowned Night-Heron: Rich Cressman had a good find of one at
Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, on the 7th. Bill Whan also passed along
word that three birds have returned to their usual breeding site in the
Columbus suburb of Bexley.

Iceland Gull: John Pogacnik had one offshore at North Perry, Lake
County, on the 6th.

EURASIAN COLLARED DOVE: John Pogacnik had an unusual report of one amid
a migrating flock of Mourning Doves at his North Perry home, Lake
County, on the 6th.

Northern Shrike: One remained at Sandy Ridge Reservation, Lorain
County, on the 5th. Ohio birders are probably coming to the end of an
unusually good winter for observing this species.

Western Meadowlark: The bird that summered at the intersection of
Rangeline and Cygnet Roads in Wood County in 2007 has returned. Delorme
(2004 edition) p.36 B/C 2.5

Common Redpoll: A few linger on. The latest reports from private
feeders were from Cuyahoga on the 6th, Lucas on the 7th, Geauga on the
8th, and Ashtabula on the 10th. Ethan Kistler's map of Ohio counties
reporting redpolls this winter reached the halfway point with 44
counties (http://www.rarebird.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2615).
