As my late morning meeting was breaking up, so were the clouds. The sun came out prodding me to skip a work out and follow the call of the migration. Action at Erie Street Cemetery was terrific today. Highlights were eight sparrow species and several first of season species for me.

In 40 minutes and one circuit around the property, I had the following:

Dark-eyed Junco 50-75
Song Sparrow 5-10
Fox Sparrow 4-6
Chipping Sparrow* ~3
White-throated Sparrow 3
Savannah Sparrow* 1-2
Swamp Sparrow* 1
Field Sparrow* 1

PLUS

American Woodcock* 2
Eastern Phoebe 2-3
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker* 2
Northern Flicker 12-15
Downy Woodpecker 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet* 1
Brown Creeper 1
Brown Thrasher* 1
Hermit Thrush 6-8
American Kestrel 1
American Robin ~12
Mourning Dove 2

* First of season

Have a good migration.
