Jeff Grabmeier, Adam Cicone and I birded some places in southwestern Ohio
yesterday. The onset of cold, windy weather created a disappointingly quiet
day, although we eventually managed 73 species. Our most notable find was made
just east of Indian Creek Wildlife Area at the intersection of Township Road
103 and Julian Road in Brown County. A fallow field there held a flock of about
150 American Pipits.

Although we looked, we could find no Smith's Longspurs or even fields grassy
enough to attract them.

Cheers,
Paul
