Some quite unusual shorebird sightings, in the aggregate incredible,
were reported from Lucas County on 14 April. Ruddy turnstone on this
date is exceptional (Peterjohn says there are very few records before
May 1), as is semipalmated sandpiper (same source: "not normally seen
till May 3-7"), sanderling (expected 10-15 May), and stilt sandpiper
(accidental in spring, with most records in the first three weeks of
May). The OBRC checklist bar-graphs confirm these expectations, and they
match my own experience in Ohio. If others can verify these reports,
please let us know; if not, I suggest they don't deserve serious attention.
