The Daffodil Trail trailhead is on Brush Road, off Brecksville Rd., north of 303.

Fairly quiet mid morning with mostly wb nuthatches, various woodpeckers, titmouses and bc chickadees. But I got some great close-up looks at two hermit thrushes. One was intent on shredding something found in the leaf litter into bite-sized pieces, alas, with not much success. Watched it shake, bang and slam the thing on the ground for several minutes. When a group of hikers approached, it refused to give up its prize and skittered off with its snack 'to go'. Heard two Louisiana waterthrushes, tracked and tried to spot the closer one... it was so cooperative, singing away in one spot for at least 10 minutes, but I just could NOT get a bead on it. Do they throw their voices or have cloaking technology? I lost track of him when a couple with a borzoi dog came by and my corgi got all excited.

By the way, the daffodils should be at peak bloom in the next few days. This park is a delight when draped in shades of yellow.

Karen Gray
