On Sunday afternoon between 3:00 and 3:45 pm I
observed 9 snipe at the Richfield IBA at the western
edge of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Six of the
birds flushed and three more were doing (I assume)
courtship flights over the westen edge of the area
producing that wonderful snipe winnowing sound. In
addition their were numerous red wings and
meadowlarks. Four of the meadowlarks were involved in
a wild low to the ground chase with each other with
the breasts flashing like bright yellow lights.
A single bobolink was observed.
