SPECIES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS ARE REVIEW-LIST SPECIES. Details of
these sightings are desired by The Ohio Bird Records Committee. Careful
observation, not ornithological expertise, is the only qualification
for submitting your data. For details and pointers see:
http://www.ohiobirds.org/records/documentation.php

Northern Bobwhite: A pair visited the yard of Tracy Morgan in Scipio
Township, Meigs County, on the 28th.

Red-throated Loon: Carol Takacs reported a possible immature flying by
the beach at Madison, Lake County, on the 31st.

Eared Grebe: Jill Bowers reported one at a pond at the southeastern
corner of OH29 and OH364 in Mercer County on the 30th. On the 2nd,
Janet Wertz reported one at Mogadore Reservoir, Portage County.

Northern Goshawk: Bruce Glick et al. tallied one during a hawkwatch at
Conneaut, Ashtabula County, on the 31st.

Franklin's Gull: Len Powlick reported one at O'Shaughnessy Reservoir,
Delaware county, on the 1st. The bird could not be relocated that
afternoon.

Little Gull: Bret McCarty photographed one at East 72nd Street on the
27th (www.RareBird.org). John Pogacnik reported one flying by his North
Perry home on the 30th.

Northern Shrike: The bird in residence at the causeway at Crane Creek
State Park, Ottawa County, was seen again on the 2nd. Inga Schmidt
reported that the bird near her home on Chagrin River Road at the
Geauga/Cuyahoga County line was relocated on the 31st.

Common Redpoll: Much more widely reported this week than in the last
few. They were reported from private feeders in Lucas, Huron, Cuyahoga,
Geauga, Lake, Ashtabula, Auglaise, Delaware, and Summit. They were
still at the Oak Openings Metropark feeders on the 30th.

Evening Grosbeak: A female grosbeak was seen again at Mohican State
Park at the second house past the fire tower on the 3rd. Ryan Steiner
provides these directions: "If you are driving 97 through Mohican State
Park you will see a sign that says 'juvenile correctional facility'
with an arrow. Turn on this road. You will pass the facility and then
a large red fire tower. You will come to a short row of houses and the
last house on the right side (gray with some sort of tower like thing
built into the front of the house) of the road. The feeders are in the
back of the house."
