The second wave of migrants appears to be finally hitting central Ohio. After seeing temperate migrants for weeks, it was nice to find some honest-to-goodness neotropicals out this morning around both Hoover dam and the nearby Inniswood Metropark. Highlights for the 2-hours included

Broad-winged Hawk - 2 were soaring and whistling over the forest at Inniswood

Cooper's Hawk - a male was plucking a recent kill at Inniswood, preparing to deliver it to a nearby incubating female

Swallows - Barn, Tree, Rough-winged and many Cliff were swirling around the updrafts around Hoover dam, as were several Chimney swifts

Vireos - Red-eyed and Warbling were singing at both the dam and Inniswood, while Inniswood also had a singing Yellow-throated

Kinglets, Gnatcatchers - a few Ruby-crowns at both sites, but many Gnatcatchers, including nest-building individuals at both sites

Thrushes - a Wood Thrush was lurking at Inniswood

Warblers - a nice haul included Blue-winged (both sites), Black&White (dam), Yellow (both sites), Parula (Inniswood), Yellow-rumped (many at both sites), Black-thr.Green (1 at the dam, 3 at Inniswood), Pine (2 at dam), Yellow-throated (both sites), Nashville (several at both sites), Hooded (1 at Inniswood)

Sparrows - Field, Song, White-throated, and a flock of Chipping were around the field below the dam.

Baltimore Oriole - 2 were at the dam
