Things were somewhat slow at these two migrant traps near downtown Columbus, despite the good weather (or perhaps because of it). The Greenlawn cemetery had a few highlights, but species diversity wasn't among them, especially for warblers. Whittier park was not any better. Highlights included:

woodpeckers - nothing unexpected

flycatchers - Phoebes were at several spots in the cemetery, some building nests

swallows - Rough-winged Tree, and Cliff were all foraging around Whittier, but not in large #s

nuthatches - lots of White-breasted and 1 Red-breasted were around the cemetery

kinglets, gnatcatchers - 5-6 Ruby-crowns were around the cemetery , mostly near the Pit pond; gnatcatchers were fewer.

thrushes, mimids - a Hermit Thrush was lurking in the cemtery ravine (someone also reported a Wood Thrush here, bu we didn't see it). Several Mocking birds were singing both at the cemetery and Whittier; a Brown Thrasher was singing at the latter.

warblers - Blue-winged, Yellow-rumped, and Palm were around the Pit, while an Ovenbird was walking in the thickets of the ravine here.

sparrows - still plenty of White-throats in both spots, and also many Chipping scattered around the cemetery.

Orioles - calling Baltimores were at the cemetery (2 at the Pit) and along the Whittier bikepath.

Finches - aside from the expected House Finches and Goldfinches, the cemetery had a singing Purple Finch at the Pit.
