The Ohio Cardinal magazine is now in its 31st year. The magazine was
actually begun by John Herman in 1978. Volume 1, Number 1 had a review of
the 1978 spring migration by John Herman, an article on nesting Pine Siskins
in Toledo by Tom Kemp, and an article on the importance of documentation of
rare birds by Jim Fry. Ed Pierce took over as Editor with Volume 3 and the
rest is history. The quality of the magazine and its importance to Ohio's
avian record has been clearly demonstrated. It keeps evolving and getting
better. I see that trend continuing with the new people involved.
