Thanks to all who responded to my query. After looking at the photo that
Andy Sewell provided, I see that it probably was a female Red-Winged
Blackbird. Hadn't seen one that close up before and they always seem to be
with a male who was singing, so I never noticed the differences in her
coloring. She's pretty, to say the least.

Thanks again to everyone. You're all great to respond so quickly. Mystery
solved!!
