This morning I had the opportunity to do some birding and hadn't been up to
Glacier Ridge for a while, so I thought I'd see what I could find. I was
hoping to see some sparrows, but the best I could do in that department was
hearing a Grasshopper Sparrow. With just about an hour and a half to work
with, I did see some other good stuff, mostly in the marsh and oak trees
near the lookout tower:
Dunlin (1)
Spotted Sandpiper (6)
Killdeer
Green-backed Heron
Blue-winged Teal
Pied-billed Grebe
Purple Martin
Barn & Tree Swallows
Willow Flycatcher
Eastern Bluebird
Brown Thrasher
Orchard Oriole (adult male singing in oak trees)
Eastern Meadowlark
Hairy Woodpecker
Horned Lark (3)
Yellow Warbler
Field & Song Sparrows
Grasshopper Sparrow (heard only)
Plus all the more common species.
Good birding,
Nate Nye
