As I was outside enjoying the evening after work checking growth of newly planted shrubs, heard a
new song. Looked up above neighbor's pool in the Locust tree sat a scarlet tanager singing it's series
of short trills. Ran in and got camera only to find it still there for a pretty shot. Also around 6:30 pm
at Research Blvd/ Woodman behind Value City is a marsh pond with
3 visiting Great Egrets along with a 3 kildeers and about dozen or two of tree swallows hovering over
the water. Not too bad after a day at work—made my day! Yesterday also FOY backyard Pileated WP
visited aged maple trees tearing apart bark like it was nothing.
