No question about it: A single Harris's Sparrow in full Adult breeding plumage sighted here in south central Huron County at 1055hrs today. The bird possessed all characteristic coloration and field marks as described and illustrated in four separate field guides.
It was sighted right outside our west windows picking away at dandelion seeds and other seeds found along the edge of our vegetable garden. The plot is, as yet, untilled for the upcoming season. The bird did not linger and was only here only about 10 minutes. We had a Harris's Sparrow with us for two full seasons [1972-1973] at Sheldon's Folly [which is now Sheldon Marsh State Nature Preserve] just west of Huron in Huron Township, Erie County. That lengthy period of observation, makes me certain that I have made a correct identification of the bird at our place this morning.
