Hello, as I was birding around Lake Milton this morning, I noticed some diving ducks in the middle of the lake. They could be seen from the Craig beach parking lot at the state park. Looking through my binoculars they appeared to be odd looking coots but I couldn't get a good look. I then spotted them in my scope and was surprised to see that they were scoters, 5 in total. There was even a male in full breeding plumage. I could see the large triangular multi-colored bill with white, black and orange. I could also see the two white patches, one on the forehead and the other on the back of the neck. They would all dive in unison and appear about 30 sec. to a minute later. Several hours later I tried to relocate them but I had no luck.
