This morning I was helping Bob Thobaben at his MAPS station in the north end
of the Spring Valley marsh. We had a very busy morning in spite of record
high waters, which made sloshing down the net lanes very strenuous. The
highlight of the day was a Mourning Warbler. We also captured or
encountered Blackpolls, a Blackburnian Warbler, Palm Warblers, and a
Yellow-rump. Swainson's Thrushes were moving through and there were more
Orchard Orioles about than could reasonably be accounted for by local
breeders.
For the first hour or so, we had a Least Bittern calling frequently from the
marsh.
Cheers,
Bob
