GLOSSY IBIS: Two were at Pipe Creek Wildlife Area for the North Coast
Open on the 17th. Chuck Anderson had one along Custar Road, Wood
County, on the 19th.

PLEGADIS IBIS: A Plegadis ibis, unidentified to species, was at Krause
and Stange Roads, Ottawa County, on the 21st according to the TNA RBA
(419-877-9640).

MISSISSIPPI KITE: Jim McCormac passed along word that at least one has
returned to the Brass Ring Golf Course near Logan, Hocking County.

King Rail: Dave Horn found one at Mallard Marsh Wildlife Area, Lucas
County, on the 20th.

PIPING PLOVER: Ray Hannikman saw one at Headlands Beach State Park on
the 22nd.

Willet: Charlie Bombaci spotted two at Hoover Nature Preserve, Delaware
County on the 19th.

Upland Sandpiper: The TNA RBA (419-877-9640) reports that one was seen
this week near Krause and Stange Roads, Ottawa County.

Whimbrel: Kevin and Kenneth Kline had 14 fly over Prairie Lane near
Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area, Wayne County, on 20th. A remarkable 39
spent the afternoon at the new Frohring Meadows Park, Geauga County, on
the 22nd.

Laughing Gull: Two adults were at Headlands Beach State Park on the
22nd.

Franklin's Gull: Reported on the 16th from Conneaut harbor; from the
17th in Hamilton County in a "skypool in the farm fields on the east
side of the I-275 underpass behind the old Miller Cemetery, which is
accessed off of US 50"; and on the 18th near North Perry, Lake County.

Northern Saw-whet Owl: Most unexpected was Emil Bacik's and Jerry
Talkington's find of one at Headlands Beach State Park on the 18th.

Olive-sided Flycatcher: Larry Roche had one along Nicodemus Road in
Shalersville, Portage County on the 16th. One was at Magee Wildlife
Area on the 18th and 19th. Jeff Grabmeier found one at Whetstone Park,
Columbus, on the 19th. On the 22nd, Ethan Kistler spotted one along the
Mohican River on Route 3 across from the entrance to Mohican State Park
campgrounds.

LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE: One was in Ottawa County at Route 19 and Duff Washa
Road on the 17th and 18th.

Golden-winged Warbler: Seen at the Magee Marsh Boardwalk on the 21st
and 22nd. Photo of one at www.RareBird.org.

Northern Parula x Cerulean Warbler: Rick Nirschl reports that this
unusual hybrid, originally found by him in 2004, was still to be found
at the same location in the Wildwood Metropark, Toledo, on the 22nd.
His directions are "Take the stairs behind the Manor House down to the
boardwalk on the floodplain and listen for the bird singing from the
sycamores 40- 80 yards north of the bottom of the stairs."

Connecticut Warbler: This week saw quite a number of reports of this
species well distributed across the state. It was seen from the 16th to
the 21st at Magee Marsh Wildlife Area. See multiple photos at
www.RareBird.org. On the 16th it was found along the main valley road
at Clear Creek Metropark, Hocking County. On the 18th it was reported
from Blendon Woods Metropark, Columbus, and from a private yard in
Bluffton, Allen County. The 20th saw reports from Whetstone Park,
Columbus; from Taylorsville Metropark in northern Montgomery County;
and from Maple Ridge Lodge in Mt. Airy Forest, Westwood. On the 21st,
one was banded at Hueston Woods State Park, and another was seen at
Swan Creek Metropark, Toledo. Headlands Beach State Park yielded one on
the 22nd.

Clay-colored Sparrow: Kent Miller found one singing along Beaver Lodge
Trail in Quail Hollow State Park in Hartville, Stark County, on the
16th.

HARRIS'S SPARROW: A breeding plumaged adult visited the feeder of Dean
Sheldon at Greenwich, Huron County, on the 18th and 19th.

Western Meadowlark: Ticked by North Coast Open teams on the 17th at
Range Line and Cygnet Roads west of the town of Cygnet in Wood County.

Yellow-headed Blackbird: Reported by North Coast Open teams near Krause
Road/Route 2 in Ottawa County on the 17th.

Evening Grosbeak: John Pogacnik reported one on the 19th and two on the
21st at his North Perry, Lake County, home.
