An awesome day over at Big Island for a photographer. I met a bunch of people from the OOS. Hi everyone!

I took about two hundred pictures and some came out well. I posted the pics on the OOS website but you can go here as well:

Report of Birds spotted:

All over the Big Island Area were Herons I counted at least ten but some could have been repeats.
Herr Rd area: Including an Indigo Bunting, Spotted Sandpiper, Wilson's Phalarope, Black-neck Stilt, Blue-winged Teal
I went across the tracks around the Herr Road area and spotted an adult Bald Eagle, fishing.

Then I went over to La Rue Prospect and spotted: Two Spotted Sandpipers, Long-billed Dowitcher, Killdeers, a Great Egret, a Northern Flicker, and I was treated to a 3 Trumpeter Swan fly-by, one was tagged with a yellow band but it was going by so fast that I didn't get it's license. :) I think that it was 7A6, I spotted it a couple of months ago. They sounded like a bus flying over the wetlands.

Then I went up to Killdeer Plains and saw some more Teal, two more Bald Eagles, Wood Ducks and a female Wood Duck with 7 or 8 chicks, Red-Tailed Hawk.

The Hawk was so close I could reach out and grab it. I didn't see it until I turned to away from the ducklings.
Whew! What a day!
