Aaron Boone, Dave Renkin, a visiting birder from New York, and I
headed to Big Island this morning and were able to see one female
Black-necked Stilt. The bird was in view from the road at 7AM, then
from a dirt road on the other side of the pool at 1030. Phalaropes
were in force, with 11 individuals being counted at one point.
White-rumps are still around, along with all the other common
shorebirds.
Here's a link to a map with information on recent sightings:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&t=h&msa=0&msid=111541981737930463917.00044e0299312b3edc492&ll=40.584626,-83.226585&spn=0.061533,0.160675&z=13
Also included is the dirt road which goes in back of the pool.

Good birding,

Sean
