Just got off the phone with Joe Hammond, who was looking at two Eurasian
collared-doves copulating on a utility line along Rte 53 just south of
Fort Seneca. The wire was across the road from a house numbered 5581.
He watched them long enough to discern the dark folded primaries, the
three-toned upperwing, and the dark on the undertail coverts that
extended distally along the outer primaries. While we were talking,
these birds were several times approached by an almost white bird,
apparently a ringed turtle-dove, and they repeatedly chased it away. A
first record for Seneca Co, I think, and it looks like there will soon
be more...
