John Beatty and I birded these spots plus a couple of quick runs through
Ottawa, Metzger and Maumee Bay SP. This was John's first birding trip
(he joined the BSBO youth birding group so I hope he gets to meet other
young birders in our area of the State). Here is a partial list:

Plovers/Sandpipers: Killdeer, Solitary, Spotted, and Wilson's Snipe.

Warblers: Nashville, Parula, Yellow, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Cape May,
Black-throated Blue, Yellow-rumped, Black-throated Green, Blackburnian,
Palm, Blackpoll, Black-and-white, American Redstart, Prothonotary,
Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush, Common Yellowthroat, Hooded.

Tanagers: Scarlet

Sparrows: Chipping, Lark, Song, Lincoln's, Swamp, White-throated,
White-crowned.

Blackbirds: Red-winged, Eastern Meadowlark, Western Meadowlark (Wood
County and fist bird of the day), Common Grackle, Cowbird, Baltimore
Oriole.

Others: Ruddy Duck, Black-capped chickadee (feeding young on the
boardwalk at MaGee, one of the fledglings actually came out of the nest
hole to give us excellent looks at him; I don't recall having ever seen
a Black-capped on the boardwalk before), House and Winter Wrens, Purple
Finch at BSBO feeders

John's favorite birds were the Prothonotary Warbler and Baltimore
Oriole. I think most of us would agree with him.
