Greetings---I birded/atlased in eastern Mahoning Co. today.  Nothing too unusual was found, but it was a gorgeous day to be out.  It's always interesting to check out nooks and crannies of habitat in places I've never visited before--places that would probably never get any attention if not for OBBA.  I found 6 species of common shorebirds, in small numbers, at the south end of Pine L. and at a flooded field in Beaver Twp.  A red-breasted merganser and 2 imm. common loons were at Evans L.  It was great to find bobolinks at several spots, hopefully they will be able to nest before the mowers come.  Also noted at scattered locales were yellow-throated vireos, black-throated green warbler, hooded warbler, and white-crowned sparrows.  Later, Craig
