This Sunday morning brought a splendid collection of birds to the tall pin oaks surrounding our Cleveland Heights backyard.  Although we normally have a lot of warblers in early May, we also had two Great Crested Flycatchers (beautifully lit by the morning sun - and a new yard bird for us),an Indigo Bunting, Red-breasted Nuthatch, and Pine Siskin. The  Red-breasted Nuthatch we had all winter had left 3 weeks ago, and this one appeared with the Siskin.  In addition, a Red-headed Woodpecker -  certainly not an expected bird in our neighborhood - showed up in the backyard near the Great Crested Flycatchers.  

I work on Sunday mornings, and I most certainly did not want to leave my yard!  Here is my list of reasons to stay home from work (which I could not actually act upon):

Red-headed Woodpecker
2 Great Crested Flycatcher (excellent view of both)
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Blue-winged Warbler
Nashville Warbler (several)
N. Parula
Yellow Warbler
Magnolia
Black-throated Green
Black and White
White-throated Sparrow
Indigo Bunting

...along with all the resident birds.
