The tanager apparently left Saturday night with the weather system. At
least he was well fed for the flight.

I heard a Common Nighthawk here again last night.

Subject: Magee Marsh (photos)

Greetings all, has anyone birded Mentor Marsh / Headlands Dunes this
past weekend? If so, could you reply privately to me regarding what has
been seen. I'd greatly appreciate it as I am visiting from California
and wondering if I should take the time to check them out.

Also, here's a couple of photo galleries of what I photographed this
past weekend out at Magee Marsh:

Subject: Quick Birding Hike Around Fremont

Took a trip on wild path that follows all purpose trail between Fremont=20=

and Clyde, Ohio. Beautiful area where land developers haven't yet=20
bulldozed. Vernal pools several hundred feet in length housed a pair of=20=

Wood Ducks and Mallards. Heard several Red-Bellied Woodpeckers in the tal=
l=20
trees there. Further along the trail was a nice woods of medium trees and=
=20
many fruit/berry bushes:

Song Sparrow
Field Sparrow
Baltimore Oriole male and female
Solitary Viroe
Wood Thrush
House Wren
Carolina Wren

All these birds were nesting in this "Wast Lane" by where the city dumps=20=

its trash. I quess there's a lesson here: it's amazing how wildlife can=20=

reproduce on the remaining untouched area patches that are left.

I don't see many owl pictures posted so I thought I would share these.
http://picasaweb.google.com/mvalencic/OwlsInLakeCountyOH This is my
brother's first attempt at digiscoping and his subject was truly amazing (at
least to me). I told him to be very careful as this could become habit
forming.

This nest is across the Chagrin River from Chagrin River Park, Eastlake, OH.
Exit SR 2 at Lost Nation Road and the park entrance is right there. There
is also an artificial nest cavity that has a screech owl in it.
