I called Sanders Nature Center this afternoon to find out how the loon
fared. They had been very busy when the Moodys arrived with him this am so were
not able to get to a thorough examination until later in the morning. I was
told that they did find some line wrapped around him but not severely & were
able to remove it with little trouble. He had no injuries & was quite healthy
(according to the local fishermen, he well should be!). He was released at
Sippo Lake in Massillon, a large lake that has often held loons before. He
quickly swam off but will hopefully hang around for a while, giving people a
good chance to view him in a healthy environment. May he live a long life!
It's been a great experience with a very happy ending.
